Description

The walk from the bathroom to the bedroom with a towel around the shoulders – when thin microfiber robes only spread water instead of absorbing it, and short models end at the calves, where it's coldest

The shower is off, the towel is enough for hair or for the rest, but not for both, and the journey across the cold hallway begins. Thin microfiber bathrobes feel smooth when put on, but absorb little water – they push moisture over the skin instead of binding it, and after two minutes, the fabric is damp. Short models end at the knee, leaving exposed precisely the area where one gets cold first after showering. To truly stay warm after bathing, swimming, or on a Sunday morning, you need dense terry cloth with length and a hood. This cotton bathrobe combines a brushed, tightly woven terry fabric with an interwoven stripe pattern, a hood, two patch pockets, and a calf-length cut.

What makes this bathrobe different

  • Cotton terry absorbs water instead of spreading it – the raised loops of cotton bind moisture within the fiber, while smooth synthetic surfaces only push water across the skin; therefore, in terry, you are truly dry after a short time and not just superficially wiped.
  • Interwoven stripe pattern instead of print – the stripes are created by yarn-dyed threads in the weave, so they do not fade, crack, or peel; printed bathrobes lose their pattern first at the fold edges.
  • Hood for wet hair – the head remains covered while the rest is already drying, so no second towel is needed and no water runs down the back.
  • Calf-length cut – the robe covers the legs well above the knee, thus enclosing the zone where a short robe would create heat loss; in an unheated bathroom or on the way across tiles, exactly this length makes the difference.
  • Two patch pockets with belt – glasses, phone, and hand cream have a place, while the belt keeps the robe closed; without pockets, everything ends up on the windowsill and stays there.
  • Wide sleeves with cuffs – the generously cut sleeves can be rolled up without constricting, which makes a difference when brushing teeth, blow-drying, and making coffee.

Who it's made for

For everyone who doesn't want to immediately slip into clothes after showering. For cold bathrooms with tiled floors and for old apartments with long hallways. For swimming pool visits, saunas, thermal baths, and spa days at home. For Sunday mornings with coffee before the day begins. For home office days when the shower happens later than the first meeting. For people with long hair who need a second towel after washing. For parents who bathe children in the evening and get wet themselves. For short trips, hotels, holiday homes, and mountain huts where a bathrobe is not provided or is too thin. For clinics, spa stays, and rehabilitation where a lot of time is spent in the room. For vacation rentals and small guesthouses with their own amenities. For guests staying overnight. As a gift for Christmas, Mother's Day, birthdays, or housewarmings, especially with towels or bath additives. Important selection note: The manufacturer's specifications state 112 cm length, 62 cm chest width, and 51 cm sleeve length (44.1 / 24.4 / 20.1 inches). These values refer to the garment laid flat, not body measurements – the chest width of 62 cm should be read as half the circumference, so the garment measures approximately 124 cm in circumference. Before ordering, lay a well-fitting robe or winter coat flat, measure from armpit to armpit, and compare with this specification. The length of 112 cm results in a calf-length fit for a height of about 165 cm; for 180 cm, the robe ends correspondingly higher. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size for a bathrobe, as it is worn over clothing and may shrink slightly when washed.

Put on, let dry, wash correctly

Wash the bathrobe separately before first use. New terry cloth releases fiber lint and excess dye in the first wash, and only after the first wash does cotton achieve its full absorbency – when new, it often appears surprisingly water-repellent due to manufacturing residues. After showering, do not throw the robe onto damp skin and take it off immediately, but leave it on for a few minutes; terry needs contact time to absorb water. After use, hang the robe on a wide hanger or hook and do not crumple it over the edge of the bathtub, as it will not dry thoroughly in a crumpled state and will smell musty within two days. In a windowless bathroom, it's better to let it dry in a living area. For washing, wash at 40 to 60 °C (104 to 140 °F) on a gentle cycle with similar colors; the belt should be removed or fastened so that it doesn't wrap around other laundry. Fill the drum only two-thirds full, as terry cloth absorbs a lot of water and becomes heavy when wet. Do not use fabric softener – it leaves a film around the cotton loops that permanently reduces absorbency and negates the very property for which terry is purchased. For softer laundry, instead, add a dash of household vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. Do not use bleach or detergents with optical brighteners for colored robes. After washing, shake vigorously to fluff up the loops again. Tumble dry on a low setting if the care label permits – this fluffs up the pile better than air drying. Otherwise, dry on a hanger in the shade, not in direct sunlight and not directly on a heater, as both make cotton hard and brittle. Do not iron, as ironing flattens the loops and reduces absorbency. Do not pull protruding loops, but trim them flush, otherwise an entire row may unravel.

For everyone who doesn't want to walk through the cold hallway after a shower, but rather sit down for a while.
