Does the silver coating tarnish over time?

It is a galvanic coating, not solid silver – it oxidizes significantly slower than real sterling silver and does not need to be polished. It is sensitive to abrasive cleaners and metal sponges, which can rub through the thin layer. Wipe the tray with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it immediately afterwards to prevent water stains from remaining on the reflective surface. Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not place open candles directly on the surface – use candle holders or coasters.
