Setting up, configuring, operating legally

Before first use, insert the microSD card and connect the camera to a 5 V power source via the USB cable. Then connect the camera to your home Wi-Fi according to the instructions; many mini cameras only operate on the 2.4 GHz network, so check your router to ensure this band is active if the connection fails. Choose a location so that the most important access point – apartment door, patio door, cellar entrance – is within the 8 m night vision range; anything beyond that will be unusable in the dark. Do not point the camera directly at a window, as daylight from outside will overexpose the image and the infrared LEDs will reflect in the glass at night. Also, do not place it directly next to a light source. When aligning, use the live view in the app for control instead of positioning by eye. The operating temperature is between –10 °C and 60 °C (14 °F to 140 °F); unheated rooms in winter are thus possible, but direct sunlight behind glass in summer is rather not. Regarding legal status: Recordings may only be made in rooms and areas for which there is actually authorization. Public sidewalks, neighboring properties, shared stairwells, and areas where others are entitled to feel unobserved are expressly excluded – strict and different rules apply in Germany, the UK, and the USA. If personnel, guests, or housemates are recorded, inform them in advance. For cleaning, wipe the housing with a dry, soft cloth and only treat the lens with a microfiber cloth; do not use cleaning agents, damp cloths, or compressed air. Do not open the camera or immerse it in water. If not used for a longer period, disconnect the power supply and store the camera dry.
