When the coffee is lukewarm before the cup is empty

You pour it in, get distracted for a moment, and ten minutes later the coffee is at room temperature. Single-walled glasses release heat directly to the air via the outer surface – and to your hand, which is why you can't even pick them up without a handle. These glasses are double-walled, with an air gap between the inner and outer walls.

What makes these coffee glasses special

• Capacity 350 ml (11.8 fl oz) – enough for a large coffee, an American-sized cappuccino, or a latte, without being filled to the brim.
• Air gap between two glass walls – Air is a poor conductor of heat, which is why coffee stays hot longer than in single-walled glass of the same thickness.
• Outer wall remains graspable – little heat reaches the outside, so the glass can be held even without a handle; this is not possible with thin single-walled glass.
• No condensation with cold drinks – the same separation prevents moisture from condensing on the outside; the glass therefore leaves no wet ring on the table when iced coffee is in it.
• Floating effect due to the inner wall – the drink visibly ends before the outer wall, making crema and milk layers appear free-floating in the glass.

Suitable for coffee, tea, cappuccino and latte macchiato, as well as iced coffee, cold brew and iced tea in summer. Also usable for desserts in a glass. What's with the small hole in the bottom?

Due to their design, double-walled glasses have a tiny opening through which the space between them is vented during manufacturing – usually sealed with silicone. It is not a defect. However, water occasionally gets into it when washing, which is why the glasses are better cleaned by hand and dried with the opening facing downwards, despite being dishwasher safe. No rapid temperature changes: no boiling water into a cold glass and vice versa.
