Does the velvet lose its structure if you lie on it permanently?

Pressure marks occur when the pile is pushed in one direction – they are not permanent. Stroke the flat of your hand against the nap, and the pile will stand up again. Remove the cover for washing and clean it inside out in a cold wash cycle at 30 °C (86 °F) on a gentle program, without fabric softener, as this can stick the pile together. Air dry, do not tumble dry. Before re-covering, press the inner cushion together lengthwise and insert it so that the bolster retains its round shape.
