You rub your shoulders, and your skin stays damp – a sign that the fibers aren't absorbing anything. This towel, made of combed cotton, works differently: its terry loops draw water into the fiber instead of spreading it on the surface. The area is dry in five to ten seconds.

What distinguishes the fabric from thin cotton goods

• Pure cotton terry loops: Each loop increases the fabric surface area. Water is drawn in by capillary action – the reason for the short absorption time of 5 to 10 seconds.
• Combed cotton: Short fibers are combed out before spinning. This means the towel hardly sheds lint even after the first wash and leaves no lint on dark clothing.
• Yarn-dyed stripes: The color is in the yarn, not a print on the surface. It does not fade in the wash and does not rub off at the edges.
• Light fabric weight: The towel dries quickly after use. This is exactly where heavy terry qualities fail in small, windowless bathrooms where they remain damp.
• Gets softer with every wash: Cotton loops loosen during washing and stand up again. The absorbency even increases during the first few washes.
• Two sizes for different purposes: 34 x 76 cm (13.4 x 30 in) as a guest towel by the sink, 70 x 140 cm (27.6 x 55.1 in) as a bath towel or beach mat.

Does terry cloth get hard after a few washes?

Terry cloth gets hard due to fabric softener, not washing. Fabric softener leaves a film on the cotton fiber that glues the loops together and significantly reduces absorbency – the towel initially feels soft but then hardly absorbs any water. Wash at 40 to 60 °C (104 to 140 °F) without fabric softener and shake the towel vigorously before drying so that the loops stand up. Air dry or tumble dry at a low temperature. Wash before first use, as new cotton still contains sizing that inhibits absorption.
