Four people wash their hands, and afterwards a clammy rag hangs on the hook. The problem is usually the grammage: too thin towels don't absorb anything, too heavy ones don't dry through. This towel, at 500 g/m², is in between – strong enough to absorb, light enough to be dry again by the next use.

What the fabric in the bathroom does

• 500 g/m² grammage: This value is between thin hotel linen and heavy bath terry. Therefore, the towel absorbs water quickly without hanging clammy on the hook for hours.
• Terry loops made of organic cotton: Each loop increases the fabric surface. Water is drawn into the fiber by capillary action, instead of just being distributed on the surface.
• Woven chessboard pattern: The fields change pile height, creating a noticeable relief structure. A printed pattern lies flat and wears off at the edges.
• Yarn-dyed fields: The color is in the yarn, not as a print on the surface. It does not fade during washing.
• Gets softer with every wash: Cotton loops loosen during washing and straighten up again. Absorbency even increases during the first few washes.
• Format 40 x 70 cm (15.7 x 27.6 in): Large enough for hands and face, small enough for a single hook next to the sink.

Does terry cloth get hard after a few washes?

Terry cloth gets hard due to fabric softener, not due to washing. Fabric softener leaves a film on the cotton fiber that glues the loops together and significantly reduces absorbency – the towel initially feels soft and then hardly absorbs any water. Wash at 40 to 60 °C (104 to 140 °F) without fabric softener and shake the towel vigorously before drying so that the loops straighten up. Air dry or tumble dry at a low temperature. Perform the first wash before the first use, as new cotton still contains sizing that inhibits absorption.

Afterwards, no damp rag will be hanging by the sink, but a towel that even the last person can still reach for.
