What makes the cup stand out in daily use

• Wooden handle instead of ceramic: Wood conducts heat many times worse than ceramic. The handle remains touchable while the cup is still hot – the point where classic ceramic handles on small cups become uncomfortable.

Can the cup go in the dishwasher or microwave?

Neither. The wooden handle is the limiting factor: continuous heat and detergents in the dishwasher dry out the wood, making it rough and potentially causing cracks at the joint. In the microwave, wood heats unevenly and can warp. Hand wash the cup with warm water and mild detergent and dry the handle immediately, rather than leaving it wet. The ceramic saucer is uncritical, but should also not be treated with abrasive cleaners, as the matte surface will show scratches. If the wood appears dull after a long time, treat it with food-safe oil.
