Description

The dresser with a candle on it and nothing else – when simple glass candle holders disappear next to the wall and heavy brass candle holders turn every surface into a Sunday feast

The room is furnished, the sideboard is in place, and in the evening a candle burns in a holder that no one notices. Simple glass and metal candle holders fulfill their purpose, but optically disappear as soon as the candle is out – which is most hours of the day. Classic brass candle holders solve this problem, but introduce a festive tone into the room that doesn't suit a normal Tuesday evening. Anyone who wants to design a surface that looks good even when unused needs a holder that stands as an object in itself. This candle holder is crafted as a figure: two legs form the base, and the socket for the taper candle sits within the pose itself.

What makes this candle holder different

  • Figurative shape instead of a neutral stand – the holder remains an object on the surface even without a candle; a simple candle holder, on the other hand, looks empty as soon as nothing is in it, and is usually put away.
  • Two legs as a wide base – the footprint is distributed over two points plus the extended feet, which keeps the holder's center of gravity low; slender taper holders, on the other hand, tip over as soon as someone bumps the table.
  • Unevenly aged gold surface – the tint is darker in the recesses than on the raised areas, making the modeling visible; a uniformly painted surface would make the same shape appear flat.
  • Socket as part of the figure – the candle fitting is integrated into the pose rather than being placed as an attachment, so that the holder and candle together form a line.
  • Matte instead of mirrored surface – the candlelight doesn't break at a single point, but rather flows over the rounded surfaces; this gives the object depth in the dark.
  • Two versions at different heights – one variant with a vertically extended leg that carries the socket upwards, and a lower one with the socket between bent knees; when placed side by side, two points of light are created at different levels.

For whom it's made

For anyone who wants to design a free surface and doesn't want to buy another picture or plant. For sideboards, dressers, hallway consoles, and mantels. For the dining table, when the setting should look different in the evening without much effort. For bookshelves where there is space between the book rows and shelves. For homes in mid-century, vintage, or artisanal styles where a neutral candle holder isn't enough. For renters who decorate a room with objects instead of changing the substance. For bedrooms and reading nooks as a calm light source in the evening. For Christmas, Advent, and New Year's Eve, as well as ordinary evenings. For studies and studios where a detail with character fits. For photo shoots, home staging, and product styling. For vacation rentals and guest rooms with their own character. As a gift for moving in, birthdays, or Christmas, especially with a set of taper candles. Important note on selection: a single candle holder is sold, not a pair – if you want both versions side by side, order them individually. The product images show two different variants that differ significantly in posture and height; which one will be delivered can be found in the product selection. The manufacturer provides no information on dimensions, weight, or material. Crucial for candle selection is the inner diameter of the socket: conventional taper candles in Europe usually have about 2.2 cm (0.87 inches), but there are also slimmer versions with 1.3 to 1.8 cm (0.5 to 0.7 inches). This measurement should be requested before purchase. If a candle is too loose, a piece of candle adhesive or briefly warming the bottom end will help; a candle that is too thick should not be forced in.

Setting up, burning, safe handling

After unpacking, check the holder for transport damage, especially on the extended feet and narrow parts. Before setting up, wipe the standing surface and place the holder on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant base; on a tablecloth, make sure it is not on a crease and wobbling. On lacquered or oiled furniture surfaces, a piece of felt under the base can prevent scratches. Insert the candle vertically and check its fit before lighting. Maintain sufficient distance from curtains, paper napkins, dried flowers, and Advent arrangements. Important safety instructions: Never leave burning candles unattended and do not place them within reach of children or pets. Extinguish the candle in good time before it burns down to the socket – a candle burned down to the holder heats the material strongly at one point, and with a figure with thin parts, this heat is distributed unfavorably. Do not touch or move the holder while burning and immediately afterwards. Do not place in drafts, as the flame will otherwise flicker and the candle will burn unevenly and drip more. Allow to cool completely after extinguishing before cleaning or putting away. Remove wax residues only when they are hard: lift them off with a wooden stick or the blunt side of a knife, never scrape with a blade and do not use hot objects to dissolve them, as both will damage the surface coating. Do not place the holder in the freezer and do not soak it in water as long as the material is unknown. For cleaning, use a dry or only slightly damp microfiber cloth and wipe dry immediately. Remove dust from recesses with a soft brush. No metal polish, no abrasive cleaners, and no solvent-based cleaners: the aged gold tint is precisely in the recesses and will be removed first by polish, leaving light spots that cannot be matched. Do not place in direct sunlight, as applied layers of paint will fade over months.

For anyone who lights a candle and then doesn't have to pay attention to it anymore – and is looking for a holder that also looks good during the day.
