The sofa swallows every cushion

A solid-colored decorative cushion on a solid-colored couch simply disappears – you don't see the shape, just a soft bulge. This velvet cover solves that problem with the edge: a narrow piping in a contrasting color runs around all four sides, drawing a clear line around the cushion. The contour remains visible, even if the cushion and sofa have the same shade.

What the edge and velvet offer in everyday life

• Sewn-in contrast piping: A cord encased in fabric is sewn into the hem. It stiffens the edge, so the cushion maintains its square shape instead of folding at the corners.
• Dual function of the piped edge: The enclosed cord also reinforces the seam – the spot where decorative cushions typically start to come undone first with daily use.
• Velvet with a dense pile: The upright pile absorbs light instead of reflecting it. This makes the color appear deep and matte, not shiny like artificial silk.
• Direction-dependent color perception: When you stroke the pile, the surface appears lighter or darker. This gives a solid-colored cushion depth without the need for a pattern.
• Smooth, low-lint surface: The short, densely set pile collects less dust and pet hair than knitted or bouclé covers.
• Cover only: The insert remains in the cushion; the cover can be removed and cleaned separately.

Does velvet lose its texture if you constantly sit on it?

Pressure marks occur when the pile is pushed in one direction – but they are not permanent. Stroke against the grain with your flat hand, and the pile will stand up again. Wash the cover inside out at 30 °C (86 °F) on a gentle cycle without fabric softener, as this can clump the pile. Do not tumble dry and do not iron directly over the velvet; if necessary, iron from the reverse side with steam on a low setting. For plump corners, choose an insert that is about 2 cm (0.8 in) larger than the cover.
